Throughout designing the outcome, we documented our process along the way, we wanted to make all our products and outcomes coherent and consistent even though we split the task outcomes, which we felt worried about due to everyone having different design ideas. however the Design Recipe definitely helped us all stay focussed.

Below is how our branding and process of the final outcome developed along the way…

We are not going to use the term A-Z for the manuals even though we like the ways it looks with the capital letter repetition like the DMY branding we have decided to do a suit which is about combating writers block and so we want to use the term A-Z for this suit. We will now continue to keep it simple like we have with the rest of the branding and call it ‘The Deck Manual’.

Justine’s font exploration

We looked over many fonts to find the right one that fitted in with DMY’s message and branding but also has it’s own personality alongside. We decided to stick with the font ‘BUGFAST’ which is the font circled in green, as it felt like it fits DMY’s bold typeface but also fits in with the final tech design recipe and concept. Most font’s were very sporty which we didn’t think would attract the consumer as most of them picked Concept 1 - Tech Deck.

Justine’s back of card design - Experimentation

For the back of the cards, Justine experimented with different options, playing around with the text and how we want them to look. We wanted to keep the back of the cards simple so we don’t take too much attention away from the actual cards themselves. Therefore we kept the font colour black along with the rest of the design. We felt like in order to not move too far away from the brand identity, simplistic was the way forward.
