kieran: 0:10
Thank you very much. So the project I'm working on is with a brand called DMY, which stands for do music yourself. And they want me to come up with a publication type which is about promoting artists and basically inspiring them to make music themselves and be independent and stuff like that. So the first question I have for you would be What does do music yourself mean to you personally?
Perry 0:36
I guess it's about not relying on someone else to put your music out there and for you to have autonomy over all of the decisions. So you're not at the mercy of a label or anybody with an agenda or who's considering like the finances like when you do music yourself, you're just you're prioritising the art, and you're learning the business skills, so that you don't have to rely on anybody else.
Kieran: 1:03
Thank you, and the second question would be because I understand that you make, music as well what made you decide that you wanted to make music or wanted to sing.
Perry: 1:12
Yeah I mean I guess it's just like, it happened naturally because I love music so much and I've been performing since I was a child, back in like a dance school so I was like singing and dancing and then I was writing, since I was like a kid and then eventually I picked up a microphone and kind of just started to believe in myself a bit more, got some good feedback and I was like okay this is something that I do want to do as part of my life.
Kieran: 1:38
Okay that's good to know and as you as an artist Everyone has their own version of success What is your personal so what does success mean to you personally as an artist like what's the end goal for parisa?
Perry: 1:51
I guess it would be too have doors open that I don't have to struggle against and to be able to To get the collaboration or the endorsements or the numbers that Will feedback financially but really I think it's about Like people enjoying the music and relating to it and hearing it and that itself Opening doors so if I wanted to collaborate with Damian Marley i wouldn't have to pay him a million pounds, you know what im saying, if i want to work with timberland or so on so, like the options there because they're feeling my music and here's something real in it that they want to work on.
Kieran: 2:36
perfect okay, and What was the hardest thing about making the choice to become a musician?
