Thank you, bro. Appreciate that it's gonna turn you up. Okay, so the first question I'm going to ask you is, what does the term do music yourself mean to you as an artist?
Unknown 0:28
I mean to me when I think about doing it yourself obviously, my first limitation is independence and as a creative, I think there should be an emphasis on independence, not that you shouldn't collaborate. But when I talk about independence, I mean in terms of creative control, and having your own vision, and your own ideas for what you are indeed obviously the history of the industry shows that you have to sacrifice a lot of creative control a lot of time if you want to go the traditional way and signed to a label and make a living off your art and puts artists in this kind of almost enslaved position where they have to give up thing they love reading, which is the creative control over expressing themselves in order to make a living. To me being independent and doing it yourself as liberating yourself from that.
Kieran Retief 1:27
Okay, good to know man and what made you decide that you wanted to start making music.
Unknown 1:33
I mean, I've always wanted to stop making music. It was just a matter of like gallery has stopped caring what other people think. I just think that you should never live your life trying to please other people, and I got to the point where I felt that everything I was doing was pleasing for people. So yeah, that was kind of like my the first thing that I did for myself. Just to like, yeah, like, almost as an act of self love, to be honest. Yeah, for sure. People think you know I'm gonna do this for the minion and that's kind of why I started making music always something I wanted to do. I was tired of just like, not doing
Kieran Retief 2:16
Yeah, of course. Of course. What was the hardest decision about being a musician because I feel when you're, you know, there's there's one thing doing as a hobby, but then really trying to make a career out of it is a big is a big deal. So like, what was the hardest thing about making that choice?
