SWOT analysis

Strengths

This pushes DMY to the forefront of the music industry goes against the traditional narrative that is put on up-and-coming musicians around aspiring to be like people who are already successful. They would stand out from the crowd.

Weaknesses

These sorts of mentality are quite hard to shift because it’s very much ingrained us to aspire up and to be inspired by people who are much more successful than us because this is what we want to achieve. It is quite hard to unlearn that kind of behaviour.

Oppurtunities

Opportunity to spotlight on people who deserve it and really heightened the message the day and we are currently trying to push – that they are about supporting and community. The idea of using artist to artist communication focusing on people who are looking to get better highlights the message effectively.

Threats

Creating outcome that is interactive and force is the consumer to engage with the product more is going to be more time-consuming than creating a standard publication and it also could be more expensive as it will have more specialist requirements.

Strengths

This would be something very innovative for the music industry because there is a high focus on professional outcomes and things that look slick and polished. This would also make DMY stand out from other labels and music partners because they are promoting the idea of the creation process and not the creation itself.

Weaknesses

Careful to not promote the idea of process too much to the point where there is no focus at all on the work that is created because of course this is what is used to gain success and sign of the right people. There is a fine line between promoting the behind-the-scenes and neglecting the reason the consumers are interested in the industry in the first place.
